Job Title 1
System Software Developer

Reports To
Software Developer Manager

Summary
Implement and support industry leading software applications. Participate in the testing process. Responsible for the development, design and implementation of new or modified software products or ongoing business projects.

Job Duties

  • Assist with the testing, implementation and support of our proprietary systems.
  • Draft comprehensive and forensic test plans/procedures and participate in their execution.
  • Troubleshoot software problems and identify/implement solutions.
  • Participate in “proof of concept”, integration and regression testing.
  • Prepare technical documentation.
  • Collaborating with management, departments and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications.
  • Developing technical documentation to guide future software development projects.


Requirements

  • Good software testing skills (system and integration testing).
  • Experience with C/C++and system programming on Enterprise Linux such as RHEL[1-2years].
  • Comfortable with Linux command-line and shell scripting [experience in python, Perlis an asset].
  • Experience developing and executing experimental or test protocols and composing test plans and Reports.
  • Follow programming standards and guidelines.
  • Experience with Relational Databases -MySQL, PostgreSQL.
  • Working knowledge with Software version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience with JIRA or similar bug tracking systems.
  • Basic knowledge of build tools such as GNU Make, CMake etc.
  • Knowledge of SSH, TCP/IP, FTP protocols.
  • SAX/DOM experience is an asset but not required.
  • Solid SDLC with regimented process experience.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and exploratory skills.
  • Aviation experience an asset.
  • MS Office a must.

Job Duties

  • Develop electrical designs that meet the needs defined in the scope of work while working within a defined schedule and budget.
  • Perform detailed calculations to establish standards and specifications.
  • Inspect installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering software to perform engineering tasks.
  • Support manufacturing department with product development and testing.
  • Provide quality assurance for ongoing projects.
  • Keep current with the latest technical innovations in electrical/electronics engineering.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • 5+ years’ electrical engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Competent in the use of electrical engineering software.
  • Able to design electrical schematics.
  • Experience in ECAD and PCB Design is a definite asset.
  • Strong understanding of electrical manufacturing processes.
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly effective project management skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Strong negotiation and prioritization skills.
